room with a view

What winter looks like from the fourth floor....

Heather was visiting us in Ann Arbor this past weekend and as a cutesy-silly sort of comment she said "I wish 'I' wasn't in the alphabet so that it was 'HJK' all in a row -- Heather, Justin, Krista." I wish it was like that too.

It had been a long time since we'd spent a weekend in Ann Arbor and this past weekend was the perfect way to break that cycle. After a few "to dos" on Friday evening, J and I went to a midnight showing at the movie theater. It was a spur-of-the-moment sorta decision, just the way going to a midnight showing is supposed to be.

Saturday started with no alarm clock and sleeping until 11. In my opinion, there's no better way to start a Saturday. Saturday afternoon brought our weekend visitor: my sister, Heather. J let us catch up on our Grey's Anatomy episodes while he ran to the grocery store to pick up dinner. He made us this:

And we enjoyed a nice little fancy dinner.
Sunday was filled with relaxing in our living-room-turned-into-a-bed-room, movie watching with the warm glow of the sun reflecting off the building across from us, and making a point not to worry about the dishes that still filled the kitchen from the night before.

Today I'm grateful for sisters and sundays.

a good day.

Today is automatically a good day because it's Friday. And fridays are glorious.

In addition to the already-goodness-of-friday, I'm wearing my new boots.
I love them. They are exactly the boots I've been picturing in my head -- grey, flats, and a little bit of character. They also make the greatest little clicking sound when I walk (I know, I'm weird, but a girl's gotta have good clickers). And the best part is that I had a $10 DSW coupon and some Christmas money from my mom so the total out of my pocket for my fav new pair of boots was a whopping $2.95.

The other reason it's a good day is because I enjoyed lunch out instead of at my desk. We're pretty much out of groceries at home since there has been little to no grocery shopping since before Christmas. So I opted to spend some of my "monthly allowance" on a little lunch for myself. At Jimmy John's. Mmmmmm. It's practically on the front door step of my office and the oh-so-yummy #5 Vito (no cappicola) was calling my name. I enjoyed people watching on a busy corner of State Street while I enjoyed my delicious #5.
With these little pieces of goodness I'm ready to take on the last three hours of my work day that stand between me and the weekend.

Today I am grateful for new boots and Jimmy John's.
